Vita – H.-Michael Saar
Professionally, H.-Michael Saar comes from the IT industry and already founded ISY GmbH in 1996. Over the course of nearly 25 years, he has provided hardware and software for on-screen navigation to numerous skippers. Electronic nautical charts have practically become part of his DNA since then. Like many other skippers, he discovered sailing in the early 90s through friends. His passion for this water sport was quickly ignited, and he initially obtained the necessary licenses.
Over time, the idea matured to establish a company that focuses exclusively on this one subject – the later ISY GmbH.The growing experience with navigation programs quickly revealed that there were many good offerings in the market, but a significant lack of qualified program descriptions. If they existed at all, these descriptions were fragmented and not updated with the development of the programs. Often, skippers had to rely on trial and error to navigate through complex functions. This was the starting point for the establishment of Saar-Verlag.This was the birth of Saar-Verlag. It all started in 2014 with the “iSailor Manual”. Further manuals followed for the most popular navigation apps in Germany, and now, for the first time, H.-Michael Saar offers his manuals internationally through his own publishing company, starting with the English-language manual for “Navionics Boating”.
